MESA SHADOWS • Monument Valley, Arizona, July 1998.
Making photographs in the desert during "the golden hour" prior to sunset is a spiritual experience. Do it once, and you never forget it. Although "The Mittens" are the most commonly known image of the area, the Monument Valley Navaho Tribal Park covers thousands of square miles of incredible scenery. This land is sacred to the resident Navaho people and access to some areas is limited as a result.
