STAIRS OF THE CONFEDERATES • Richmond, Virginia, July 1999
Being huge Civil War buffs, it was only a matter of time before we found our way to Richmond, former Capital of the Confederacy, Unfortunately, many of Richmond's loveliest buildings were destroyed in the conflict. In the foyer, we saw old photographs of these exact stairs, littered with Confederate wounded and dead. As a result, Ron wanted to compose this image of their final resting place to look like a monument.
