While others are rushing into the digital age, Ron continues to embrace the old ways of making elegant and timeless Black and White images. The combination of traditional techniques, top quality materials and Ron's well-known perfectionist spirit, creates Silver Gelatin and Platinum prints of fine quality. Most images are created with a 4x5 Sinar "large format" camera (picture an old fashioned photographer with a black sheet over his head). Ron then takes each 4x5 inch negative and hand prints it in his darkroom. Ron's fibre based prints are then archivally toned to add warmth, character and permanence. The result is a beautiful photograph that will last and be enjoyed for generations. Ron Tucker started taking photographs at age ten with the encouragement of his father Fred, a Forensic Photographer for the Ontario Provincial Police. After attending the Photographic Arts Program at London, Ontario's Fanshawe College, he started his own photography and darkroom business in 1986; Tucker Photography with his business partner and wife Maureen. In 1988, Tucker Photography began working in commercial and industrial photography for organizations like Bell Canada, 3M, Asai Brown Boveri, Westinghouse and the Department of National Defense. He also gained a reputation as a well-respected and creative wedding and portrait photographer. In 1999, Tucker Photography expanded again to offer a collection of Black&White Fine Art prints for sale. These photographs have been exhibited Canadian and American art and photography galleries, and are avidly collected. Currently Ron is experimenting with a 1904 5x7 size antique view camera. He continues to strive for perfection in the darkroom and hopes to do further work in alternative processes like Platinum/Palladium. |
