HOLBROOK GARAGE
Holbrook, Arizona, July 2002
They just don't build them like this anymore. In the golden age of Route
66, these stylish stations were welcome "rest stops" along the
way when we were kids. From the hot back-seat of a station wagon, a place
like this was an oasis of junk food and air-conditioning. On a good day,
we'd stretch our legs, pee and devour an ice cream bar. On a really good
day, we wrangle some Archie comics for our afternoon entertainment.
